Skive loooking for freelance developer!
Hi,
I work for Skive ( http://www.skive.co.uk ), an award-winning independent digital creative acgency based in London. We produce a lot of interactive work for the web, and we started producing Unity content in late 2008 (and have been enjoying it very much!). We've been getting a lot of interest in our Unity work, to the point where we may need to take on extra Unity 3D developers this year, so I'm looking for freelace Unity 3D developers who have top-notch skills and are available for work.
The work would be web-based games, with a high quality of visual finish and gameplay to match. Our games generally have to tie in very closely with our clients' requirements - both visually, technically and in terms of delivery and launch dates.
You won't need to produce 3D assets, sounds, music or graphics yourself, but you'll need technical knowledge of these areas, an understanding of how to specify exactly what you need, and how to get these assets from their various sources into Unity and keep them looking good and performing properly. You'll need to be able to communicate clearly with the other people in our team who will be producing assets, and with those who will be integrating your work into the final site. We're used to dealing with remote workers, but you'll need to be available online for regular conversations, updates and code and production reviews throughout development.
A CV (résumé) is required, but perhaps more importantly, you'll need to be able to show demonstrate that you have the skills required in the form of playable Unity 3D content or videos of your work, with descriptions of exactly what your involvement was. You'll most likely need to show at least a couple of fully finished projects in which you were the sole or lead developer. The games are likely to be driving or racing related, so experience in this area is a big plus.
Knowledge and practical experience of the following (the more the better):
- Game AI, ideally car racing AI.
- Game physics, ideally in cars & racing games, including how to set up physics in scenes from 3d artists.
- Materials and shaders including integration of specular maps, normal maps, cubemap reflections, etc.
- Graphics optimisation (draw calls, texture atlases, mesh grouping, etc).
- Integrating with external data and server-side scripts.
- Dynamic mesh generation.
- Sound, music and video integration.
- Strong coding experience (why not show us some code you're proud of!)
- Experience with version control & bug tracking systems
If you're the person we're looking for, or if you have any questions, please contact me at duck at skive.co.uk, using the subject "Unity Work". Thanks!
(Please don't contact me via forum PM regarding this posting, as I don't check them very often)
